Vielen Dank für die schöne Zeit auf Alor!
Besonders geschätzt habe ich, dass du mir eine große Anzahl verschiedener Tauchspots gezeigt hast, sodass ich einen guten Eindruck von Alor`s Unterrwasserwelt bekommen konnte! Dein Boot und die generelle Organisation rund um meinen Besuch verdienen ebenfalls ein "super!".
Auch wenn meine Reisezeit nicht optimal war (aber das wusste ich ja schon vorher), so war ich von der Qualität der Riffe beeindruckt und habe definitiv Lust bekommen, noch einmal nach Alor zu kommen - dann mit Tresher Sharks und Walhaien.

At first we would like to thank you for the great days on the boat and in Alor's underwater world. With your experience as well as your funny stories you made this one of our best experiences in Indonesia and managed to totally infect me, as a bloody rookie, with the diving virus. Best wishes also from Niklas. We really enjoyed staying and diving with you!
To all the people who heard about Alor, roam this site and still hesitate on wether going or not: just do it, it's definitely worth the travelling effort!

unser fazit:
im grossen und ganzen hat uns der aufenthalt auf Alor ganz gut gefallen - wir alle sind mit gutem gefühl abgereist. Was zu bemängeln war (das hotel und das fehlende "rahmenprogramm") haben wir ja schon bei dir vor ort angebracht... Jedenfalls waren wir alle froh, dass wir nicht in das resort auf der insel (bei den Franzosen) gegangen sind, wo wir uns ja nichtmal mit dem nötigsten (BINTANG, kaffee und schnacks) hätten selbst versorgen können..

Von meinen 22 tauchgängen hab ich persönlich 5 als "exzellent" (also herausragend gut), 7 als sehr gut und die restlichen als gut bis durchschnittlich eingestuft... Was bei fast 1300 tauchgängen eigentlich ein sehr gutes rating ist...

Mir persönlich (wobei ich da aber der einzige war) haben auch die langen anfahrten durch die bucht immer gut gefallen, da ich ja eigentlich lieber auf dem wasser bin als im hotel abzuhängen...

Wir alle waren aber von der guten organisation und der persönlichen betreuung (insbesondere des köstlichen räucherfisch-essens) deinerseits sehr angetan... Auch das kleine erdbeben hat seinen beitrag zum "erlebnisfaktor" geleistet...haha...

Da wir alle (mit ausnahme von "küken" Alfons) ja schon fast zum alten eisen (Hans ist schon 65, ich werde im Okt. 64 und Pit ist auch bald soweit) gehören, werden wir eine derart beschwerliche reise wohl kaum mehr unternehmen, so dass wir uns in diesem leben höchstwahrscheinlich kaum mehr persönlich sehen werden... Aber wir (Alfons kann sich sogar vorstellen, wieder mal zu kommen) sind froh, dass wir's geimeinsam nochmal geschafft haben ein so aussergewöhnliches reiseziel wie Alor als "abschluss-trip" gewählt zu haben...

Die letzte nacht bei Michael im "La Hasienda" war noch ein gelungener abschluss - insbesondere das wirklich gute futter, die
tollen zimmer und die gute betreuung durch Michael haben wir alle als sehr angenehm empfunden !!

Jedenfalls werden wir alle unseren aufenthalt im "indonesischen outback" immer in guter erinnerung behalten... Es war unter'm strich sogar besser als auf Palau, wo wir 4 vor 2 jahren waren... Und das deshalb weil's rund um Alor noch keinen massen-tauch-tourismus gibt...

wir alle vier haben bei Dir den Tauchurlaub genossen. Besonders die persönliche Betreuung und dein Engament hat uns alle sehr gefallen. Am Ende hat uns sogar die lange Ausfahrt gefallen. Da gab es viel zu sehen und war immer ein Erlebniss. Da konnte man die Versorgung im Hotel vergessen. Leider werden Fred, Pit und Hans nicht mehr reisen. Aber ich kann mir gut ein Wiedersehen in ein paar Jahren vorstellen und werde mich frühzeitig melden.

My partner, Shilpa, and I went to dive with Thomas in Alor during our honeymoon in early July 2016.

The entire experience was fantastic. Thomas suggested we stop by his house upon our arrival in Kalabahi. Once there, he told us about the lodging options we had and even drove us to the hotel to show us around. He also came each morning that we were diving to pick us up in his truck and take us down to the boat launch area. Over the course of our 3 days diving with Thomas, we also had a chance to meet his family, his very welcoming wife, Fera, and fun-loving son, Kevin.

The diving in Alor was beautiful. Though we'd read in the guidebooks that Alor's waters "are not for beginners", Thomas assured us that there were sites that would work for us. And though we'd only just gotten certified a couple days before arriving in Alor, we felt very comfortable during our dives and Thomas knew each site very well and where the potential for difficult currents might arise.

Each day that we dove, we were given a filling, delicious lunch. Alor Dive's diveboat is another great part of diving with Thomas. The boat was built in west Flores by local boatbuilders about ten years ago. It is spacious, has a bathroom with a toilet on it, and you can check out a bunch of photos on Alor Dive's website that were taken while it was being built. It felt good to travel around in this vessel that was built by local hands in the local way.

Alor Dive and Alor itself are perfect for travelers looking to get away from everything and have a more personal traveling experience. It's not five star luxury and you will see some trash in the waters around Kalabahi, but you won't feel like 100 other tourists had the same idea you did. We loved our time in Alor and are very thankful to Thomas and his family for hosting us and making sure we had everything we needed.

Thank you Thomas for sharing with us the splendor of Alor's underwater paradise. We are sailing around the world and have had the opportunity to snorkel/dive in many locations around the globe. The reefs that we explored with you in Alor were among the top three we have seen in our travels. And we only had to share them with the fisherman as Alor remains relatively empty of tourists. Thank you also for the tip on sailing over to Komba Volcano. A real treat.
